The Clean Energy for EU Islands Initiative has concluded its Call for 30 renewable islands for 2030. The Secretariat is thrilled to share the selection of 30 islands and island groups from 10 European countries ready to lead the way towards a sustainable future.
The Green Hysland project was selected as one of the three European hydrogen valley projects of 2023 at the sixth edition of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership Awards.
On 5 October 2023, the Green Hysland project hosted its 3rd workshop, “Setting up Hydrogen Valleys in Europe,” on Vlieland Island in Fryslân, NL. From Vlieland to Europe, this event explored transformative strategies in Hydrogen Valley development engaged through practical insights expert support.
The European Hydrogen Observatory was successfully relaunched on 29 September, during an online event with the participation of speakers from the European Commission, Hydrogen Europe, Clean Hydrogen Partnership, IEA and other Observatory partners.
The aim of this call is to identify and provide technical support to 30 islands or groups of islands for the next three years, propelling islands towards the ambitious target of achieving complete energy independence through 100% renewable sources by 2030.

On 28 November 2022, FEDARENE and the Canary Islands Institute of Technology (ITC) invited several partners of the Green Hysland project to exchange on the sustainable integration of green hydrogen in island electrical systems.
HEAVENN, the Basque Hydrogen Corridor and eFarm were all recompensated during the Clean Hydrogen Partnership Awards 2022, organised during the European Hydrogen Week on 26 october.
