Green Hysland is much more than a pilot project in Mallorca. It is also about showing all the potential of green hydrogen for the decarbonisation and economic development of islands in the European Union and across the world.
Why should you be interested in the Green Hysland concept
- It offers a safe way to decarbonise your energy supply and all related sectors in the short term;
- It can decrease fuel dependency from the mainland and reduce electricity costs;
- Your island will be showcased as an ecotourism destination;
- It brings new employment and reskilling opportunities for islanders, boosting reindustrialization and economic development;
- It can easily be integrated and fully aligned with existing climate and energy plans.
In order to ensure the scale up of clean hydrogen valleys and islands across Europe, Green Hysland offers opportunities for replication to different groups of stakeholders.
Green Hysland Follower Territories
Several islands are directly involved in Green Hysland as project partners and will participate in an in-depth replication study: Madeira (PT), Tenerife (ES), Achill (IE), Greek Islands, Ameland (NL), Chiloé (CL), and Morocco.

Become a Green Hysland Observer
Green Hysland Observers are entities that are interested in interacting with the project in order to replicate the concept and benefit from the lessons learnt for future projects.
By becoming an observer, you will:
- Receive our latest news and event invitations through our newsletter;
- Be included in the Hydrogen Territories Platform (HTP) to get access to HTP tool – a user-friendly modelling tool which provides an initial assessment for the introduction of hydrogen technologies in your region;
- Be included in our Mapping Study of EU Islands with green H2 potential and considered for our upcoming Project Development Assistance programme.

Join the EU Coalition for H2 Deployment in Islands
Green Hysland has established a wide EU Coalition for H2 deployment in Islands with highly followed EU initiatives and projects active in the clean H2 sector and/or working on the decarbonisation of islands, cities and regions. This large multilateral strategic partnership aims to raise awareness on the potential of clean H2 for the decarbonisation of EU islands.
By becoming a member of the Coalition, you will:
- Receive our latest news and event invitations through our newsletter;
- Be involved in Cross-promotion activities with Green Hysland;
- Be considered as speakers and co-organisers of our events;
- Be included in the Hydrogen Territories Platform (HTP) to get access to HTP tool – a user-friendly modelling tool which provides an initial assessment for the introduction of hydrogen technologies in your region;
- Be included in our Mapping Study of EU Islands with green H2 potential and considered for our upcoming Project Development Assistance programme.

Join the Green Hysland Technical Assistance Programme!
Green Hysland is launching a free Technical Assistance Programme to help islands, cities, and regions develop a pre-feasibility study for green hydrogen projects. Selected participants will receive tailored mentoring and guidance on using the latest Hydrogen Territories Platform (HTP) Tool to explore hydrogen applications in transport, buildings, storage, and industry.
Led by Enercy and the Aragon Hydrogen Foundation (FHa), this programme offers:
- An online group workshop on the HTP Tool
- Bilateral mentoring sessions for tailored support
- Project Development Recommendations outlining next steps
